Manchester United are eyeing a move to sign RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande after they missed out on Antoine Semenyo, according to Sky Sports reporter Danyal Khan.
Diomande has burst onto the scene this season with RB Leipzig after arriving at the Bundesliga club in the summer transfer window. He’s showing himself to be one of the most exciting young talents in world football, and has been described as ‘outrageous’ by The Athletic writer Seb Stafford-Bloor.
Stafford-Bloor has also compared Diomande to Bournemouth forward Semenyo, suggesting that they are physically similar, with ‘all the same skill and touch’. GIVEMESPORT sources have confirmed that United are now set to miss out on Semenyo, who looks set to be joining their Manchester rivals City during the January transfer window.
Man Utd Eyeing Diomande After Semenyo
According to Sky Sports reporter Khan, Manchester United are one of the sides who are monitoring RB Leipzig youngster Diomande, following their failed pursuit of Semenyo.
The signing of a new forward might not seem like an immediate priority for the Red Devils in the coming weeks, especially after bringing in three new attackers in the summer transfer window. However, a player of Diomande’s quality is hard to come by, and they might regret missing out on him in January if he opts to join a Premier League rival.

According to Stafford-Bloor, RB Leipzig’s position with Diomande is that he’s not for sale in the January transfer window, and if any interested party wants to secure his signature next summer, the conversation will start at €100m (£87m).

It feels unlikely that United would be willing to go that high, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if an interested party was able to haggle that price tag down. Leipzig paid around a fifth of that to bring him to the Bundesliga, and it could be a huge profit even to sell him for around £50m-£60m.
They obviously won’t want to lose him, but it will be interesting to see if Diomande is keen on a move to the Premier League.
