In over three years at Collider, senior author Jake has now penned over 2500 articles covering a wide range of TV and film for the resources, lists, utilities, news, and interview teams. Alongside interviewing stars such as Selin Hizli, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Harlan Coben, and Chelsea Peretti, Jake was lucky enough to visit the set of Aardman and Netflix’s Wallace and Gromit: A Vengeance Most Fowl in 2024, getting the chance to chat with four-time Academy Award winner Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham. The hotly anticipated Highlander reboot is in the thick of production as we speak, and, courtesy of new footage showing Cavill in action as Connor MacLeod, excitement couldn’t be higher. Cavill is one of several high-profile stars set to feature in the upcoming reboot, including Oscar winner Russell Crowe, WWE veteran Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Jeremy Irons, Marisa Abela, and Djimon Hounsou. Chad Stahelski, the man behind all four of Keanu Reeves’ John Wick movies, is directing from a Ryan Condal script.
Ahead of the Highlander reboot and Cavill’s latest big-name leading role, one of the actor’s biggest flops is finding unlikely streaming success. Night Hunter, a 2019 Canadian action thriller from writer/director David Raymond, is unquestionably one of Cavill’s most forgettable roles. Despite featuring a notable cast, including the likes of Ben Kingsley, Alexandra Daddario, and Stanley Tucci, the film failed to gain any sort of positive recognition, earning a dismal 14% score from critics on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.
At the time of writing, and despite such poor reviews, Night Hunter has found itself part of the ten most-streamed movies on Paramount+ worldwide. The film is far from the only action title proving popular, with the top five also including 2025’s Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, the zombie apocalypse flick World War Z, and the Liam Neeson-led 2025 return of The Naked Gun. A logline for Night Hunter reads, “A police lieutenant, his entire force, and a vigilante become caught up in a dangerous scheme involving a troubled man who’s linked to years of female abductions.”
What Is Henry Cavill’s Next Movie?
Before stepping into the shoes of Connor MacLeod, Cavill is teaming with director Guy Ritchie for an exciting action thriller. Scheduled for release on April 10, 2026, In the Grey, produced by Black Bear Pictures, will follow two extraction specialists as they “plan a route of escape for a female negotiator.” Also starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rosamund Pike, and Eiza González, In the Grey is one of the most intriguing upcoming releases ahead of the summer, not least because it is Cavill’s first proper theatrical release since last teaming with Ritchie on The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, as long as one excludes his inconsequential cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine.
