The ESPR entered into force on July 18, 2024, and establishes mandatory sustainability standards for products manufactured or marketed in the EU. The first milestone is the battery passport, which will apply from February 18, 2027, to industrial batteries and electric vehicle batteries exceeding 2 kilowatt-hours. From July 2027, the obligation will extend to textiles, steel, iron, and other priority products.

Stefan Deiss, co-founder and CEO of The Hashgraph Group, stated that TrackTrace delivers “the critical layer of trusted data infrastructure” that companies need to comply with the DPP regulation. PwC is collaborating with the company on digital passport implementations for enterprise clients, though the names of the firms involved were not disclosed.
