Bunbury Eagles first grade women produced a comprehensive all-round performance to defeat Harvey-Benger by 24 runs at the Harvey Recreation Ground on Sunday.
Harvey-Benger won the toss and elected to bowl, a decision that initially paid dividends as early wickets slowed the Eagles’ start, however, a fightback allowed Bunbury to post a competitive 6-112 from their 20 overs.
Harvey-Benger’s bowlers shared the work well, with Laura Cheney (2-16 from four overs) the standout supported by Megan Minton (2-20 from four overs)
In reply, Harvey-Benger struggled to build partnerships against disciplined Eagles bowling and were eventually restricted to 4-88 from their 20 overs.
Captain Megan Minton led from the front with a composed unbeaten 25 from 24 balls, while Sarah Prickett made a fluent 22 from 23. Taneeka De Ridder (18) also contributed, but regular breakthroughs stalled the chase.
Bunbury’s bowlers maintained pressure through the middle overs, preventing Harvey-Benger from gaining momentum.
With the required run rate climbing steadily, Harvey-Benger were unable to capitalise in the closing overs, leaving Bunbury Eagles to secure a deserved victory.
