Three friends captured the mesmerising moment a dolphin came up to their boat in the Firth of Forth.
Tony Pirouet and his two mates, who are all in their early 50s, had gone to pick up a new boat from Burnt Island before sailing back to North Queensferry.
They stopped off at St David’s Bay for a spot of fishing – with little success – and then headed to anchor west of the Forth Bridge.
Enjoying being out on the water, the lucky trio then noticed a dolphin playing with the rope on the anchor at around 6.40pm on Saturday August 30.
“We were at anchor for a couple of hours just off Hawes Pier waiting for high tides to take the boat into North Queensferry boat club,” Tony said.

“We were there for little more than 10 minutes and he appeared at the stern of the boat.
“He just kept playing around the boat, and I can tell you, it was magical.
“It felt like the dolphin was trying to make us all smile, rolling on his side to look at us, and he certainly did.”

In the clip, the men can be heard chatting with the dolphin as it rolled around in the water and used its rostrum to nozzle the anchor rope.
Tony said at the time he wished he had brought his swimming shorts but upon researching whether it would be safe to swim with dolphins in the wild – he realised it was a bad idea.
