DanChurchAid (DCA) is a Danish humanitarian, non-government and non-profit organization. In DR Congo we have implemented humanitarian projects since 2004. DCA aims to protect vulnerable communities in DR Congo, and to contribute to improve stability and social cohesion by addressing and mitigating the consequences of conflict and displacement. We clear explosive remnants of war, and assist communities affected by conflict and displacement by addressing protection and other essential needs. About the job
The Grant, Coordinator at Dan Church Aid (DCA) plays a pivotal role in managing grants and enhancing communication and partnership strategies to support the organization’s humanitarian and development programmes. This dual role requires effective coordination, strategic planning, and communication skills to ensure successful fundraising, donor relations, and visibility of DCA’s programmes. The Grant, Coordinator is also to ensure that DCA maintains strong relationships with donors and effectively communicates its impact and initiatives to stakeholders.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Grant & Donors compliance:
* In collaboration with the head of programmes, actively participate in the development of concept notes and proposals for existing and new donors (US Department of State, ECHO, OCHA CHF, EU FPI, Danida, etc). This includes the gathering and editing of technical sections, compiling budget inputs, and ensuring timely submission in line with donor regulations.
* Support grant cycle management, including kick-off meetings, compliance monitoring, and grant close-out.
* Monitor grant implementation, track progress, and evaluate outcomes to ensure accountability and transparency to donors.
* Coordinate the reporting processes for both interim and final reports, ensuring use of right templates, compiling inputs from relevant stakeholders (colleagues, both in HQ and in country, technical experts, partners etc).
* Ensure strict adherence to donor regulations, financial guidelines. Monitor grant implementation, track progress against targets, and prepare comprehensive reports for donors.
Communication and visibility
Ensure improvement of the country office communication strategy and design to enhance quality reporting, visibility of DCA and its donors.
* Develop and implement communication strategies that effectively convey DCA’s mission, values, and impact to external audiences.
* Foster strong relationships with donors through regular communication, updates on project impact, and donor appreciation initiatives.
* Produce engaging content for newsletters, press releases, website updates, social media platforms, and other communication channels to promote DCA’s programs and achievements.
* Facilitate the sharing of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories across DCA teams to strengthen organizational learning and effectiveness.
* Identify potential risks related to grants, fundraising efforts, and communication strategies, and develop proactive mitigation plans.
Partnership coordination
* Develop and lead the implementation of the partnership strategy, aligned with DCA’s localization commitments.
* Be a focal point for local partners, including taking a key role in partner identification process and during the collaboration.
* Manage partnership agreements (MoUs, sub-grants, teaming agreements), ensuring compliance and mutual accountability.
* Provide capacity-strengthening support to local partners and facilitate regular partnership reviews.
We are looking for the following qualifications and experience
* At least 5 years of related experience, with two of them in one or more of the key program/project cycle management areas of program/project development, reporting or communication.
* Specific experience in partnership, grants and communications and related activities.
* A degree or related qualification in any field relevant to Project/Program Management, business administration, international development, communication, Organizational Development, Strategic Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation.
* Experience working in a diverse team.
* Computer literacy essential including proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.
* Fluency in written and spoken English and French.
* Ability to work both independently and within a team, diplomatic skills, proactiveness, punctuality, respect for organizational procedures, processes and deadlines, flexibility, ability to work in a demanding environment, respect for coworkers, ability to set priorities and create and follow plans, good communication and diplomacy skills.
* Demonstrated empathy and experience in understanding the position and needs of national partners, as well as building their capacity.
