
Katsina State governor, Dikko Radda, on Thursday, commissioned newly renovated and remodelled en-suite blocks of 12 family quarters at the Corporal Below Quarters (CBQ) of Natsinta Army Barracks, Katsina, as part of activities marking the Christmas celebration at the barracks.
The governor carried out the commissioning while joining Christian communities in the barracks to celebrate the festive season.
In his remarks, Governor Radda commended officers and men of the 17 Brigade for their unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the state, attributing the relative peace being enjoyed in Katsina State to the dedication and sacrifices of security personnel.
He noted that the state government maintains a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with security agencies, describing the collaboration as a key factor behind the security successes recorded across the state.
Radda also expressed gratitude to the families of military personnel for their support and understanding, stressing that their encouragement at home enables their spouses to effectively discharge their constitutional duties.
He renewed his condolences to the families of security personnel who lost their lives while on active service, describing their sacrifice as heroic and invaluable to the safety of citizens.
As a gesture of goodwill during the Christmas celebration, the governor announced a donation of ₦10 million to Christian families residing in the barracks.
After the commissioning, Governor Radda paid a courtesy visit to leaders of Christian communities in the state, where he called for their continued cooperation in sensitising Christian faithful on the need to support government policies and initiatives.
The Christian leaders, in turn, commended the governor for his inclusive leadership and for carrying all segments of the population along, regardless of religious differences.
The event was attended by top government officials, military officers, Christian community leaders, and residents of the Natsinta Army Barracks.
