Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang was officially inducted into the All Progressives Congress (APC) on January 2, 2026, where he was presented with his party membership card during a ceremony at Victoria Gowon Hall in Government House, Rayfield, Jos.
The event marks the culmination of weeks of speculation and announcements surrounding the governor’s switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mutfwang had formally resigned from the PDP in a letter dated December 29, 2025, citing the need for purposeful leadership and better alignment with federal government policies to accelerate development in Plateau State.
The defection, first publicly announced by APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda in mid-December 2025, strengthens the ruling party’s grip on the North-Central region, with all states in the zone now under APC governors.
Mutfwang described the move as strategic, aimed at fostering greater cooperation with the federal government and delivering tangible benefits to residents.
