Global Government Fintech is today becoming Global Government Finance, reflecting the acceleration of digital finance into the mainstream and increasing importance of innovation for public sector finance leaders.
The evolution of Global Government Forum’s sister title comes almost five-and-a-half years since the platform launched to report on and convene a professional community around the adoption of financial technology in areas such as payments and anti-fraud.
Since then, the opportunities and challenges created by technology have surged: for example, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle fraud, blockchain for government bond issuances and open banking technology in payments.
The new name also better reflects our aim to inform, inspire and equip public finance leaders to accelerate change.

Coverage will be presented in nine sections across the following themes (many articles will be relevant for multiple topic sections): Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Data, Anti-Fraud and Financial Crime, Blockchain, Digital Currencies, Digital Resilience, Digital ID, Payments, Policy & Governance and Public Financial Management.
The sections will contain independent editorial content highlighting innovative initiatives through news and case studies; analysing trends; and interviews with public sector finance leaders.
To mark the evolution, Global Government Finance has today published an extended interview with one of the UK Parliament’s most ardent advocates for innovation and transformation in finance and public policy delivery, Lord Holmes.
“To reframe your publication is timely in that ‘fintech’ was a really useful and helpful handle at that stage [2020] for describing a whole bunch of technologies and opportunities and potential use cases around this,” Holmes says. “I think it’s positive now to move on and talk “finance” because the reality is: this is happening.”
In the months ahead, Global Government Forum and Global Governemnt Finance will be publishing a Finance Leaders Study informed by interviews with government finance leaders from around the world.
Plans will be confirmed shortly for events and webinars, building on Global Government Forum’s well-established Finance Summits and four Global Government Fintech Labs. The latter events have been held in Dublin, Ireland, in 2025, 2024 and 2023 (all hosted by the Irish government); and in Tallinn, Estonia, in 2022 (hosted by the Estonian government).
