G-SHOCK plays nice in The Sandbox (a metaverse gaming platform) as part of its Virtual G-SHOCK Project, its maiden voyage into Web3 technologies and virtual experiences.
Within The Sandbox lies G-SHOCK City: a free-to-play game space where users can immerse themselves in the brand’s storied history and test their mettle in survival races inspired by the rigorous shock-resistance trials G-SHOCK watches endure.
The first guides players through an adventure-style journey chronicling G-SHOCK’s evolution from inception to today. The second delivers survival races with a shock-resistance theme.
At the nucleus of this venture is the G-SHOCK Droid Collection, a line-up of robot-style avatars modeled on five G-SHOCK icons: the DW-5600, DW-6900, GA-110, GA-2100, and GA-V01. Each avatar captures the design DNA of its physical counterpart while exploiting the unique properties of NFTs to forge something entirely new.
These digital collectibles are offered across five rarity tiers – Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary – and are priced from 19 to 399 SAND (the native utility token of The Sandbox, used for engaging with the platform’s ecosystem, purchasing items, and accessing experiences). They enable personal branding in the metaverse just as accessories do in the real world, but with the permanence and provability that NFT ownership provides.
In tandem with the aforementioned is the G-SHOCK WEAR & CREATION Collection, which features limited digital collectibles showcasing G-SHOCK motifs as wearable and collectible NFT items.
