G Adventures has launched new trips in eastern Europe, exploring Moldova and Romania.
The first is to Moldova, a new destination for the small-group adventure company, which described it as “under the radar”.
The second is a standalone trip to Romania, which can also be combined with the Moldova itinerary to create a 14-day eastern European tour.
Yves Marceau, product vice-president at G Adventures, said: “These are two really exciting and beautiful parts of the world that remain under the radar for tourists.
“Here at G Adventures, we are committed to ensuring that our product and travellers bring benefit to local communities by bringing them into the conversation and our supply chain from the beginning.
“These trips are a fantastic example of tourism done right – where travellers can have real cultural experiences and build connections with local communities, who are welcoming tourism with open arms.
“Each itinerary is designed to take travellers to places that don’t experience overcrowding but with so much to offer, from incredible landscapes and wildlife to food, wine, history and tranquillity.”
The seven-day Moldova Discovery tour begins in the capital Chisinau, including a wine-tasting in a limestone cave and visit to the Monastery of Saharna.
The group will then visit Fromage – Made In Moldova to learn about the production of natural, chemical-free cheeses.
The itinerary also includes Trebujeni village, the River Raut valley and the archaeological complex of Old Orhei, a cooking masterclass, a visit to Gagauzia with its Soviet-era and Orthodox Christian buildings.
The eight-day Highlights of Romania & the Danube Delta sees the group travel from Bucharest to the Transylvania region on a day of castle exploration, including Bran Castle, made famous by Bram Stoker’s novel, Count Dracula.
Clients also visit Berca Mud volcanoes, the Danube Delta and the beach of Sulina, where wild horses roam.
Heart of the East: Romania & Moldova Adventure is a 14-day tour combining the two itineraries, from £2,599.
