Aniruddha, an Indian entrepreneur, has shared his inspiring story of transitioning from an H-1B visa to a B-1 visa, which has given him a new lease on life. After spending nine years on an H-1B visa, he decided to switch to a B-1 visa, and it’s been a game-changer for him.
Aniruddha described his life on an H-1B visa as mundane and restrictive. He couldn’t run his own business, was allowed to travel to India only once a year and had to renew his visa every three years. The constant uncertainty due to government policies and being stuck in the corporate loop made him feel like a ‘slave’.
However, after switching to a B-1 visa, Aniruddha’s life changed dramatically. He can now run his own LLC legally, travel to the US twice a year from India and enjoys a 10-year visa validity period. With no stress about policy changes, he can focus on his entrepreneurship venture.
“Life feels in my control and exciting every day,” he shared.
Aniruddha’s decision to switch to a B-1 visa was not impulsive. He took a leap of faith and made the jump, which has paid off for him. He’s now living in India full-time and visiting the US only for conferences.
Aniruddha’s post coincided with a major policy announcement by US President Donald Trump, requiring companies to pay a one-time fee of $100,000 (approximately Rs 88 lakh) for every new H-1B visa application. This move has sparked concern among Indian professionals, who make up nearly 70% of H-1B visa holders. Many see this as an attempt to restrict Indian talent from accessing opportunities in the American tech industry.
