
Four inmates at a Southern Nevada prison died in the span of a week while another inmate at a Northern Nevada prison also died, state corrections officials announced Friday.
In separate press releases announcing each death Friday, the Nevada Department of Corrections did not provide any information about a cause of death for any of the inmates. Autopsies were requested in all five cases, the department said.
Michael Williams, 35, who was serving a sentence of up to 40 years for kidnapping, died Thursday at High Desert State Prison outside of Indian Springs, officials said. Williams came to the Department of Corrections from Clark County in 2018.
Roderick Davidson, 58, died at High Desert on Feb. 15. Davidson was in the midst of serving a sentence of at least 15 years for counts related to being a habitual criminal, the department said.
Donte Smith, 48, died Feb. 12 at High Desert, a news release said. Smith was serving a sentence of up to nine years for being an ex-felon in possession of a gun and for firing into an occupied area. He came to the Department of Corrections in 2024.
Anthony Reed, 55, died at Centennial Hills Hospital on Feb. 12, the department said. Reed was serving a sentence of at least 10 years at High Desert for second-degree murder. He had agreed to a plea deal following the murder of 24-year-old Darius Stokes outside a Las Vegas restaurant in 2022.
As well, Damon Happy, 62, died Feb. 13 at Lovelock Correctional Center in Northern Nevada, officials said. Happy, who was serving a sentence of at least four years from battery with a deadly weapon, came to the facility from Clark County in 2022.
