A litter of gorgeous Lurcher puppies – found abandoned and unwell in a woodland at just six weeks old – have now all found their forever homes.
Abandoned at just six weeks old, this litter of five puppies was found in in Middleton Woods in Leeds but thankfully a walker found them and handed them in to Dogs Trust Leeds, who have given the pups a second chance at happiness.
When they were discovered in October, the puppies were in a terrible state, underweight, dirty, shy of people and very unwell. They were taken to Dogs Trust Leeds, where the team immediately gave them the special medical care.
They also needed help with socialisation and nurturing to help build up their strength and confidence and give them the best chance at making it through their tough start to life.
Now, at three months old, and with their medical worries behind them, these five puppies whom the team named – Badger, Hedgehog, Fox, Mouse and Bunny – have all found their forever homes, starting the New Year off right, with loving new adopters.
Kelly Walker, Manager at Dogs Trust Leeds said: “This gorgeous litter of lovely Lurchers may have had a tough start to life, but thanks to the wonderful support from the team at Dogs Trust Leeds, they’re now fit, healthy, and in their forever homes.
“Each one of these puppies has their own unique personality, and we’re glad that after being abandoned, we have been able to help find them homes where they can settle in and learn what it is to be a dog in a home.
“If you are looking to start the New Year by bringing a pooch into your home, then why not think about rehoming? Dogs Trust Leeds is open to the public five days a week, and you don’t need an appointment to visit, meet the dogs looking for homes, get advice or apply to adopt.”
As every dog is unique, finding the perfect match can take anything from a few weeks to several months. You only need to apply once every three months, and the charity will do all it can to find the right dog for you, however long it takes.
