Ford Recalls 625,000 Vehicles: Affected Models Listed

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 625,000 vehicles in the United States. The action addresses two separate safety defects. One involves faulty seatbelts in sports cars.

The other concerns malfunctioning rearview cameras in heavy-duty trucks. These issues pose significant safety risks to drivers and passengers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is overseeing the recalls.

Approximately 332,778 Ford Mustangs from model years 2015 to 2017 are affected. The problem lies with the front seat belt anchor pretensioners. Road salt and water can cause these cables to corrode and break.

If a cable snaps, the seatbelt may not restrain an occupant during a collision. This dramatically increases the risk of injury. According to Reuters, Ford is aware of 22 warranty reports potentially linked to this issue.

Owners will not pay for the repairs. Dealers will replace the faulty pretensioner assemblies. They will also modify sections of carpet that could interfere with the belts.

The second recall impacts about 291,900 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty trucks. These are from the 2020 to 2022 model years. The digital video feed from the rearview camera can fail to display.

This happens under specific lighting conditions. A blank screen eliminates a critical safety feature when reversing. It raises the potential for a back-over accident.

Ford dealerships will perform a software update to fix the problem. This service is also provided free of charge. The repair addresses the image processing module’s performance.

This large-scale recall is part of Ford’s broader safety campaign this year. The company has issued several other recalls in 2025. These have included problems with steering components and wiper arms.

No crashes or injuries have been reported from these two new defects. Ford decided to act after reviewing field data and warranty claims. The company is prioritizing owner safety.

Affected vehicle owners should expect notification letters by mail starting in October. They can then contact their local Ford dealer to schedule the free repairs. Owners can also check the NHTSA website using their VIN.

This major Ford vehicle recall underscores the auto industry’s continuous focus on safety, prompting immediate and free corrective action for hundreds of thousands of drivers.
