ANNOUNCEMENTS

Ethel & Maud Luncheon: The November edition is set for Nov. 19 at CityView on the fourth floor of the Illinois Terminal. Entertainment by local musician David Howie; catering by Dish Passionate Cuisine. Free parking in the west lot from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Please do not park in the lot at Logan and Market streets; this is permit only.) Reservations are now closed.Potluck lunch: The Urbana Park District Senior Club Potluck will be held Tuesday at the Phillips Recreation Center, 505 W. Stoughton St., Urbana. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., with lunch served at noon. Entertainment will be the very talented Logan Kirby. Please bring a dish or dessert that serves 10-12 to share and your own table service. If you can’t bring a dish, please make an $8 donation. We will once again be passing donation containers for Veterans Affairs Illiana Health Care System in Danville and Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Champaign. Please be generous. Also, if you can bring a red or gold ornament for our Christmas tree, it would be much appreciated. Reach out to our caregiver adviser at 217-352-0099 for more information.Men’s Caregivers Alzheimer’s & Dementia Support Groups: Two groups meet each week to provide support for caregivers, widowers and spouses of those with Alzheimer’s/dementia. The meetings are from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays or 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesdays in the Y Community Room at the Stephens Family YMCA, 2501 Fields South Drive, Champaign, and on Zoom. STEVICK CENTER ACTIVITIES

Caregiver support group: 1 p.m. Wednesday. For more information, call 217-352-5100.Men’s coffee group: 9 a.m. Monday-Friday. Join us for a cup of coffee and great conversation.Game Days: For those who like to play Scrabble, Yahtzee, Skip-Bo, dominoes, bridge or pinochle. Noon to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.Bingo: 11 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Tuesdays. Second Tuesday is Bring a Prize Bingo; fourth Tuesday is Sponsored Bingo.Crochet, knit and stitch: 10 a.m. to noon Mondays and Thursdays.Meditative Movement with Yoga: 9 to 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Because of further renovations at Family Service, through Dec. 10, this will take place at Unity Church, 1206 E. Main St., Urbana.Euchre: Noon to 3 p.m. Fridays.

CRIS HEALTHY AGING ACTIVITIES

The Champaign County location is at 4116 Fieldstone Road in Champaign, and the Vermilion County location is at 309 N. Franklin St. in Danville. Brain-health program: Do you help a friend or loved one over 60 who is dealing with memory loss? CRIS can help. Call 217-355-1543 to learn more about our fitness and brain-health program for caregivers and people with memory loss.Coffee Chats with ClarkLindsey: Our “Navigating Dementia” series topics include signs of memory loss, effective communication and managing challenging behaviors. Held from 9 to 10 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at ClarkLindsey Memory Care, 2760 S. Race St., Urbana.Bingo: Join us at 9 a.m. each Monday in Danville with prizes from local community sponsors.

HOT LUNCH PROGRAM

The Peace Meal Nutrition Program provides daily hot lunches at 11:30 a.m. for a small donation and a one-day advance reservation at sites in Champaign, Urbana, Rantoul, Sidney (home delivery only), Mahomet (home delivery only) and Homer.

For reservations, call 800-543-1770. Reservations for Monday must be made by noon Friday. NOTE: There is no change for home deliveries, but at congregate sites, you can get a carry-out meal.

Monday: Chicken Parmesan, green beans, au gratin potatoes, pineapples, bread slice.Tuesday: Mac and cheese with ham, vegetable medley, peaches, dinner roll.Wednesday: Closed.Thursday: Chicken Caesar salad, cottage cheese with pineapple tidbits, chocolate pudding, breadstick.Friday: Meatloaf with gravy, mashed potatoes, buttered cauliflower, Mandarin oranges, bread slice.Saturday: Sliced-ham sub with lettuce, tomato and cheese, chips, V8 juice, applesauce.Sunday: Closed.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

If you want to volunteer, the Family Service Volunteer Program is your link to 15 local nonprofits needing help. We offer support, benefits and a safe connection to partner sites. Contact Robbie at 217-359-6500 or [email protected] for details.

CURRENT NEEDS

Food for Seniors: Immediate need for drivers and substitutes, case handlers, sackers and with cardboard breakdown for disposal. All positions are from 7 to 9 a.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month. Interested? Call Robbie Edwards at 217-359-6500.Carle Auxiliary: Volunteers sought for assisting with paperwork for Ways & Means sales (no money handling), which benefit the Carle Auxiliary Guest House and medical scholarships; various sewing projects for patients such as chemo hats, satin bonnets, seat-belt covers for those who have had heart procedures or mastectomies; knitters and crocheters to make baby hats, blankets and winter accessories; assisting the entryway team with wheelchair escorts and transports; and with hospitality at the Mills Cancer Center for patients receiving chemotherapy, including visiting and offering activities and snacks.
