Two flights were diverted to Edinburgh Airport this morning after smoke was seen coming from a Loganair plane at Aberdeen Airport.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) raced to runway at the northern travel hub at 10.17am after a ‘technical issue’ was reported. Firefighters were reportedly seen hosing down the vehicle which was alleged to have two flat tyres.
The plane was due to depart for Dublin from Aberdeen International Airport on Friday December 26, the Daily Record reports. Two flights had to be sent to Edinburgh due to the runway incident.
Ryanair’s FR8005 from Alicante to Aberdeen landed at Edinburgh following its diversion at 10.50am. Meanwhile KLM’s KL913 touched down in the capital at 10.15am after being diverted.
A number of journeys at the airport were also delayed as a result.

“The stop message came in at 10.41am.”
Logainair told the Daily Record: “We can confirm our flight from Aberdeen to Dublin experienced a technical problem on departure.
“As a precaution, the passengers were disembarked safely and returned to the terminal, where they were taken into the care of our ground teams. The aircraft will now be taken to our hangar for further inspection.
“Safety is always our primary concern, and we thank the crew and the airport for their assistance.”
