Ras Al Khaimah Police urged motorists and all road users to fully comply with traffic laws and road signage to ensure their safety and that of others

As part of ongoing road safety monitoring, the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police has outlined a series of common traffic violations linked to road accidents, based on official statistics and daily reports.

At the centre of the warning is a clear message: unsafe driving behaviours continue to pose a serious threat to road users, resulting in financial penalties, black points, and potential vehicle confiscation.

Among the most prominent violations is failure by light vehicles to adhere to mandatory lane discipline, particularly at signalised intersections. Offenders face a fine of Dh400.

Another frequent cause of accidents is failing to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. This violation carries a Dh400 fine and four black points on the driver’s traffic record.

Distracted driving, defined as being preoccupied with anything other than the road, was identified as a third major offence. Motorists caught engaging in such behaviour are subject to a Dh800 fine and four black points.

Failure to wear a seatbelt was listed as the fourth key violation contributing to accidents. Offenders are fined Dh400 and receive four black points.

Ras Al Khaimah Police urged motorists and all road users to fully comply with traffic laws and road signage to ensure their safety and that of others.

Authorities stressed that violations may result in financial penalties, vehicle impoundment, and black points, in accordance with the law.

The department reaffirmed its zero-tolerance approach to traffic offenders, emphasising that such violations undermine road-safety efforts and threaten the broader goal of achieving the highest standards of traffic security and public awareness across the emirate.
