I kind of laugh when I see studies like this one. Do we really need to study to know what states have the hottest summers? You can probably guess and get many of these correct.
This study from the World Population Review checked out several key categories:
Average summer temperature, humidity, UV index, lack of water access, percentage of homes with air conditioning, and rainfall amounts.
Using this data, the research team put together a list of states with unbearably hot summers.
You won’t be surprised to learn where Louisiana ranks.
States with the Hottest Summers
If you just look at the summer temps, you will find Louisiana at the top of the list, tied with Texas which both have an average summer temperature of 81.1. Florida checks in at #3 on the list with an average temp of 81 in the summer.
But if you stack up all the data, California residents have to suffer through the toughest summer heat. The big problem in California is the shortage of water and the UV index. The Golden State doesn’t get much rain and has many more sunny days than other states.
In case you really couldn’t figure this out, Alaska has the mildest summer. The average summer temp is only 52.3 and their percentage of homes with air conditioning is only 7%.
Monroe tops this list with an average of 98 days a year with a temp above 90℉. The city also has at least 7 days a year with a temperature above 100℉.
