The FBI will be pursuing every lead to get the bottom of what led to the killing of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk by alleged assassin Tyler Robinson on Sept. 10.
In an extensive post on X, Patel announced that the FBI would be “ensuring the investigation into Charlie Kirk’s assassination is thorough and exhaustive.”
Patel promised to leave no stone unturned and to pursue “every lead to its conclusion.”
The FBI director wrote that his agency would be looking into whether the assassination was part of a larger conspiracy:
We are meticulously investigating theories and questions, including the location from where the shot was taken, the possibility of accomplices, the text message confession and related conversations, Discord chats, the angle of the shot and bullet impact, how the weapon was transported, hand gestures observed as potential ‘signals’ near Charlie at the time of his assassination, and visitors to the alleged shooter’s residence in the hours and days leading up to September 10, 2025.
The purpose of the investigation is to “deliver justice,” Patel wrote. He explained that while every detail of what has been found so far can’t be released to the public, “we will ensure every question is addressed at the appropriate moment.”
Patel did address one theory about the Kirk shooting. A plane flying near the Utah Valley University campus where Kirk was assassinated had its transponder allegedly turned off at the time of the shooting.
“After interviews with the pilot and consultation with the FAA, we determined the transponder was not turned off,” Patel wrote. “Incomplete flight data in rural areas caused the apparent gap.”
According to the New York Post, FBI officials are also “poring over recent texts from Robinson, including how he confessed to his transitioning boyfriend — exchanges that have been picked apart by online Gen Zers who insist very few 22-year-olds communicate with such complete sentences and punctuation.”
“Investigators are also exploring the possibility of accomplices and related conversations about the assassination before Sept. 10 in forums such as Discord, despite previously insisting that Robinson acted alone,” the Post reported.
Kirk was honored in a massive public ceremony on Sunday, which was attended by countless members of the Trump administration and featured a speech by President Donald Trump among others.
Trump said in his speech that with Kirk’s death, American lost a “giant” of his generation but he will live on as a “martyr.”
Patel said in his X post Sunday, “The entire FBI mourns the loss of Charlie Kirk. We will not rest until justice is served, and our investigation into this assassination will continue until every question is answered.”
