The Lithuanian Grain Producers Association said Monday lawmakers are ignoring farmers’ position on the tax package.
“We are organising the warning protest against the planned amendments that do not take into account the comments made by farmers and the specific examples given by farms of how this will affect the future overall taxation of their income, and SoDra and other taxes. In the meetings with ministries and parliamentary groups, our efforts have been ignored,” the association posted on Facebook.
“It is obvious that the Government is driving a bulldozer in the decision-making,” it added.
Last winter, the country’s farmers staged two protests against the Government’s policies.
Several thousand farmers rallied in Vilnius to protest against demands to amend the restoration of permanent grassland, to stop the transit of Russian grain, to reinstate the excise duties on ‘green’ diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) that were in force until 2024.They also called for action to solve the dairy crisis by regulating the marketing chain, and to halt the expansion of protected areas.
