SHANGHAI: Sabah China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC) President Datuk Frankie Liew is representing Sabah at the prestigious 2025 “Overseas Chinese Connect the Five Continents · CIIE in Shanghai Advancing Together with China’s Opportunities” event, held in conjunction with the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE).
Liew, who has recently arrived in Shanghai, attended the welcome dinner where he engaged in in-depth discussions with political and business leaders, prominent overseas Chinese representatives and corporate delegates from around the world.

The event, taking place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), is organised by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and co-hosted by the Shanghai Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and the Shanghai Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese.
Now in its fifth year, it has evolved into a flagship international platform connecting overseas Chinese communities across the globe.

By the latest actual performance for September 2025, the total anticipated contract value awarded to Sabahan companies hit RM1.7 billion.
It had attracted 1,000 distinguished guests from more than 50 countries and regions, including renowned overseas Chinese leaders, economists, senior executives from Fortune 500 companies, entrepreneurs and representatives of returned overseas Chinese.
A variety of thematic forums, project matchmaking sessions and business networking activities will be held, focusing on China’s high-quality development and high-level global opening-up to foster win-win cooperation.

“Bridging Five Continents · Shanghai CIIE not only reflects China’s confidence and strength in pursuing high-quality development but also provides overseas Chinese entrepreneurs worldwide with a gateway to better understand China’s opportunities and foster collaboration,” Liew said.
He highlighted that Sabah and China have long shared strong economic ties, particularly in the fields of agriculture, tourism, education, green energy and the digital economy — sectors that continue to offer vast cooperation potential.

“Through this international platform, we aim to connect with more overseas Chinese leaders, entrepreneurs and experts, broaden Sabah’s global network and attract more Chinese enterprises to explore and invest in the state,” he added.
SCCC remains steadfast in its mission to strengthen trade and investment linkages between Sabah and China, in line with government policies to enhance two-way investment, industrial complementarity and youth development — all of which contribute to Sabah’s economic growth and regional advancement.
The “Overseas Chinese Connect the Five Continents” initiative aims to enable global Chinese communities to “See CIIE, See Shanghai,” deepening their understanding of China’s economic development while fostering global resource integration within the Chinese diaspora and sharing the benefits of China’s continued opening-up.
