The vacancy is tied to incumbent Bridget King, who won the Ward 5 seat in November but a month earlier was appointed as the new City Council president.
The seat was temporarily filled by previous Ward 5 Councilman Angelo Russo.
Numerous messages left by cleveland.com King were not returned.
The criteria for residents to be considered for the Ward 5 seat — with the current term beginning Jan. 1 and ending Dec. 31, 2029 — includes being a registered voter and having two years of residency in Fairview Park with one year in the respective ward.
Each city council term includes a $12,000 annual salary for ward and At-Large representatives with the council president earning $12,500 a year.
“Anyone who lives in Ward 5 for two years can apply to take over my four-year seat,” King previously told cleveland.com.
“Council will conduct interviews, talk to everyone who applies and appoint someone to that seat.”
