FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — Big news for bargain hunters on the SouthCoast, as the Fairhaven Staples has expanded its offering of Bin Wins merchandise.
Staples first launched the Bin Wins concept in Saugus, Massachusetts in November of 2024. Since then, it has expanded to over 100 stores in 16 states.
In a time of high prices and penny-pinching, it’s no surprise these bin deals have proven popular – although sometimes, people just love to find a great deal, whether they need the item or not.
Bin Wins stores sell returned and overstocked merchandise at discounted prices, with a sliding scale of what you will pay for each item based on the day of the week. It starts at $15 per item on Fridays, remains at $15 on Saturdays, and then drops to $10 an item on Sundays and Mondays. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the items drop down to $5 apiece, and on Thursdays, they’re $2.
The concept first came to Massachusetts with BinStar in 2023. By the end of 2024, there were three BinStar locations, with Avon the closest to the SouthCoast, but they are all permanently closed now.
The Fairhaven Staples store started offering Bin Wins in August 2025, with two bins at the front of the store near its Amazon return counter. At the time, the store was listed as a “pop-up” location for Bin Wins. The Fall River Staples is also a full-fledged Bin Wins location.
Now, however, it is a full-fledged Bin Wins experience as the back of the store has been converted to an area housing multiple bins full of potential treasures. The Amazon return counter has also moved to the back of the store as well.
The Bin Wins bins are stuffed with items that come from Amazon returns and pallet deals from other retailers. While some savvy shoppers claim to have walked away with expensive electronics like Beats headphones or even iPads, frequent trips to the Fairhaven Staples bins seem to be mostly odds and ends from Amazon.
Pro tip: if you see something boxed up and can’t tell its contents – or just aren’t sure what it is or does – using the Amazon app on your phone will allow you to scan the barcode on the box and learn what is inside and what it is used for.
