Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday underscored that creating an enabling environment for businesses and drawing new investment are the government’s top priorities.
He made these remarks while leading the first progress review of the Private Sector Committee on National Industrial Development in Islamabad.
PM Shehbaz said meaningful economic expansion, more jobs and higher national income cannot be achieved without strengthening the country’s industrial sector.
He also recognised the business community’s support for government policies during challenging periods, noting that their cooperation helped Pakistan steer through tough economic phases.
The premier added that Pakistan’s economic direction has begun to improve and the country is moving steadily toward development, though he stressed that sustained effort is still needed to achieve long-term progress.
During the meeting, officials presented policy suggestions designed to accelerate industrial growth and attract greater investment.
They also shared a comparative study with neighbouring countries to pinpoint ways Pakistan can increase the competitiveness of its industries.
The prime minister welcomed the recommendations and instructed that they be merged with proposals from other economic sectors to shape a cohesive national policy.
He directed the relevant authorities to examine the suggestions in detail and formulate a practical plan for their implementation.
