These 18 people vanished from Merseyside without a trace. Some of the stories will be familiar, such as the disappearance of teenager Mark Garvey who vanished from a Queens Drive bus stop after he had an argument with his girlfriend. Missing since March 1987, his family have spoken to the ECHO about their hopes for Mark’s future.
And, more recently, the disappearance of Carol Mighall – a nan from Birkenhead – who has left both her family and investigating detectives stumped as to where she is. Her daughter previously told the ECHO it was “like an alien had zapped her up”.
There are also the stories of those who went missing and didn’t receive the attention they should have. Thankfully, Missing People, a charity that works tirelessly to end the mysteries of what happens to those who vanished without a trace, has shared photos of all the people missing in Merseyside.
Missing People is a UK charity that provides specialist support to people who are missing or at risk of going missing, and to the families and friends they have left behind. It was founded in 1993 by sisters Mary Asprey OBE and Janet Newman OBE, the charity carries hundreds of missing person appeals from around the UK.
