The promised land of “free speech for everyone” is quickly transitioning to the mecca of hate speech & hypocrisy.
Ethereum’s (ETH) founder Vitalik Buterin has chimed in to offer his take on the concerning rise of hate speech against Europe. Even though the platform’s owner, tech mogul Elon Musk is claiming coordinated attacks are only against the European Union (EU), this is far from reality, says Vitalik.
Vitalik Thinks Elon Should Put Values Over Money
One of the last-standing high-moral value proponents on X, previously known as Twitter, Vitalik stated this: “The attacks on Europe I’ve seen here the last couple of days, including from people I’ve generally considered interesting and sophisticated, have been getting unhinged…” The emotionally-manipulative misinformation is also spreading about cities outside the EU, most notably London, United Kingdom.
Naturally, attempts to delegitimize the EU came after Elon Musk’s X got slapped with a $120 million fine for multiple EU legislature breaches, allegedly choosing profit over user security. A great example of this would be multiple X accounts in the same name with blue checks, meaning that imposters slid through the verification system occasionally.
Ethereum Founder Comes Up With Uncanny Solution
For Elon, pointing out his platform’s shortcomings is not just another business setback. It’s a personal vendetta. “I’m seriously worried that huge backlashes against values I hold dear are coming in a few years’ time”, – added Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin in a follow-up message.
With Elon Musk’s drooling internet goons echoing whatever the master has to say, Buterin expects hate speech to reach unprecedented levels in the next few years. In order to avoid this, Ethereum’s coding virtuoso has come up with a solution. “I’d go further”, said Vitalik, mentioning Zero-Knowledge (ZK) proving every decision made by X’s algorithm.
If the decisions are time-stamped on-chain, the server is less exposed to manipulation or lies, unable to censor anything once the data arrives on-chain. David Crapis, an AI team lead at Ethereum (ETH) Foundation, has seconded this opinion, urging the developers to disclose their algorithm optimization target for transparency.
