Fundstrat’s Tom Lee, once best known for his unwavering Bitcoin bullishness, is now turning heads with a bold new thesis: Ethereum could be the most significant macro investment opportunity of the next ten years.
The shift in tone follows a wave of renewed institutional activity in the crypto space, highlighted by Strategy’s recent $2.46 billion Bitcoin acquisition. While Lee still sees enormous upside in BTC — forecasting a multi-million dollar valuation in the long run — he believes Ethereum’s evolving role in finance puts it in a category of its own.
Lee made his remarks in response to a user on X, where he emphasized ETH’s rising importance. He’s previously advised holding both major assets, but his latest commentary signals a tilt toward Ethereum, especially as tokenization, staking, and scaling solutions continue to mature.
Backing up Lee’s outlook, on-chain data shows large ETH accumulations by whales. One trader recently reinvested $12.68 million into ETH after pocketing $6 million in profits, a move interpreted as a strong signal of confidence. Public companies are also increasing their ETH exposure, with SharpLink Gaming and Coinbase among the top holders.
While Bitcoin remains the flagship store of value, Ethereum’s expanding utility — and its growing role in institutional portfolios — may be what defines the next phase of crypto adoption.
