Experienced coach Muhsin Ertugral has shared his insights on what could help Kaizer Chiefs dominate their CAF Confederation Cup group.
The Naturena-based giants advanced past Angolan side Kabuscorp S.C.P and DR Congo club AS Simba Kolwezi in the preliminary rounds to secure a place in the group stage.

Chiefs, led by co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, have been drawn in Group D alongside Zambian side ZESCO United and Egyptian clubs Zamalek SC and Al Masry SC.
While expressing confidence in his former club, Ertugral, who won several trophies with Amakhosi in the past, also highlighted areas where Chiefs need to improve.
The Soweto giants will open their group campaign with a trip to Egypt to face Al Masry, followed by a home game against Zamalek, before traveling to face ZESCO in their first three matches.
“Chiefs dominate possession, create chances but for me, the question would be, can Chiefs turn their dominance into dominance that counts?” said Ertugral, speaking to KickOff.com.
“In these type of international games, the bigger picture will be about depth, mentality, and continental readiness. The team is tactically better organized this season.
“I think there is much more clear defensive identity what I could see. They are compact, the rest defence is organized and have controlled transitions it’s very visible.
“To be successful in international football I think their structure must evolve. CAF football exposes teams that stay too static,” explained the ex-Orlando Pirates mentor.

“For me, what I really think is the defensive line must learn to breathe within the game and adjusting distances under pressure, not just defending zones.
“I think they can control games, to be successful, they have to learn to be much more dynamic when you face especially away games, the unpredictable rhythm of North and West African clubs.”
