Viral posts circulating on X have claimed that Ellen DeGeneres was labeled Hollywood’s “most prolific cannibal” in newly released Epstein documents. Some posts went even further, alleging grotesque acts, to amplify the shock factor. The frenzy erupted after the US Department of Justice announced it had released all available files connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The document dump includes references to roughly 300 prominent individuals across various records, from emails and contact books to flight logs and third-party interviews. But here’s the reality: the claim about DeGeneres being a “cannibal” does not appear anywhere in the official files.
One widely shared post alleged, “The Epstein files expose Ellen DeGeneres as Hollywood’s “most prolific cannibal.” She ate children’s flesh.” Another claimed the files “name Ellen DeGeneres the most prolific cannibal. Vampires are real.” Despite the dramatic tone, there is no evidence supporting these accusations. In fact, a community note added beneath one viral post clarified: “There is no evidence Degeneres engaged in cannibalism”.
While DeGeneres’ name reportedly appears in the broader index of individuals mentioned in the Epstein materials, inclusion in investigative records does not imply criminal wrongdoing. Many public figures, including politicians, media personalities, and business leaders, are referenced in peripheral communications without being accused of any crimes.
So, was Ellen DeGeneres exposed as Hollywood’s “most prolific cannibal” in the Epstein files? No. The documents contain no such claim; only the internet does.
