Multiple emergency-level bushfires are raging in Western Australia’s Mid West region but the website designed to warn citizens about natural disasters is in meltdown.
WA’s Fire and Emergency Services Department issued a notice warning about the outage late on Monday afternoon, redirecting those affected by bushfires to ABC local radio and its information line.
“The Emergency WA website and app are currently experiencing technical difficulties,” the government agency said on Facebook.
“DFES is working to get Emergency WA back online as soon as possible.”
Emergency-level bushfires were burning on Monday across the state, stretching from Warradarge in the mid-west to Nambeelup, south of Perth.
Emergency warnings were also in place at Mindarra north of Perth, Bindoon and Gidgegannup.
Hundreds of firefighters have been deployed to battle the blazes.
Those affected by the fires can call the fire department for updates on 13 33 37 (13DFES).
