An Edinburgh Ryanair flight declared a mid-air emergency and was forced to divert on Tuesday morning.
Flight FR2969 from the Scottish capital to Tenerife set off at 6am and was due to land at the holiday destination shortly before 11am on November 11.
According to flight tracking website FlightRadar24, the aircraft diverted after squawking a 7700 code – signalling a general emergency onboard.
It’s understood the pilot declared the emergency during the flight’s descent over the Celtic Sea.

Passengers were diverted to Shannon Airport in Ireland.
FlightRadar24 wrote on X: “Ryanair #RYR75EE, flying from Edinburgh to Tenerife, is squawking 7700 (emergency), turning around over the Celtic Sea, remaining at cruise altitude of 37,000ft.
“Ryanair #RYR75EE is diverting to Shannon Airport (SNN/EINN). Currently on final for Runway 06.”
A Ryanair spokesperson said: “This flight from Edinburgh to Tenerife South (11 Nov) diverted to Shannon after a passenger became ill onboard. The crew called ahead for medical assistance to meet the aircraft upon landing at Shannon Airport who treated the passenger.
This flight continued to Tenerife South that same morning (11 Nov).”
