Edinburgh residents struggled to leave the Royal Highland Centre on Friday due to the massive crowd of people trying to exit the showgrounds.
Fans of the North Shields singer gathered in their thousands to see the Geordie artist perform on Friday, August 22 and while they certainly enjoyed their time at the concert, it seemed trying to exit the venue was a “absolute carnage”.
An estimated 20,000 people were in attendance on Friday night, with many of them trying to make it back into the city centre after the gig.
One resident who struggled to make it home on public transport told Edinburgh Live: “It was absolute carnage. It has to be expected, but it was rammed.
“The crowds moved so slowly; it was never ending.”
Avid Sam Fender fans also took to TikTok to share their experience. One user shared footage of a sea of people trying to leave.
They captioned the post: “Again, I repeat, there must be a better system for this place. Why does it take me longer to get home than when I go through to Glasgow for a gig?”
Social media viewers raced to the comment section of the video to agree.
One commented: “Horrendous! Couldn’t find my car. Way too dark in the car park, bar the gazillions of people stuck in those fields and aggressive people not letting anyone out to keep the flow going.”
While another wrote: “We were stuck in a STANDSTILL for 1 hour because someone decided they wanted to be in both [lanes].”
And a third added: “Horrible venue. The sooner the new venue is started and opened at the Gyle the better.”
It comes as Pink Pony Club singer, Chappell Roan, gears up to play the same venue on Tuesday, August 26 and Wednesday, August 27.
