Firefighters had to extinguish a car which was engulfed in flames behind a row of shops in a residential area.
An image shared with Edinburgh Live shows the bonnet of a silver estate covered in a raging inferno at the back of Scotmid on Drum Brae Avenue.
A witness also claims the owner attempted to grab items from the boot before the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received a call at around 8.40am on Thursday, October 16.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze after arriving at the incident and no injuries were reported from the site.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.42am on Thursday, 16 October, to reports of a car well alight in the car park to the rear of Scotmid on Drum Brae Avenue in Edinburgh.

“Operations Control immediately mobilised one appliance to the scene and firefighters extinguished the fire.
“There were no reported casualties and crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
