THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has turned over a P12.4-million farm-to-market road aimed at improving the livelihood of upland farmers in Barangay Santa Maria, Dupax del Sur, Nueva Vizcaya.
DAR Cagayan Valley (Region 2) Director Primo Lara said the 700-meter-long, 5-meter-wide concrete road is expected to significantly ease the transport of agricultural products for farmers who are members of the Palabotan Agrarian Reform Community.
“This project will directly benefit 346 agrarian reform beneficiaries, along with other farmers from neighboring communities,” Lara said.
The road project was funded under the Agrarian Reform Fund and forms part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to boost rural economic development through infrastructure and support services for farmers.
Dupax del Sur Mayor Neil Magaway welcomed the completion of the project, saying it would help local farmers improve access to markets and increase agricultural productivity.

“This farm-to-market road will greatly benefit our farmers who have long needed better road access. It will contribute to the socioeconomic development of our town by enhancing agricultural activities,” Magaway said.
He added that the improved infrastructure is expected to inspire farmers to expand their production and engage more actively in agribusiness.
