Donald Trump has not been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, even though he appeared absolutely desperate to win at times.
The award went to Venezuelan politician Maria Corina Machado in a ceremony at the Norwegian Nobel Institute in Oslo held today (October 10). The committee said she won the award “for her tireless efforts promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela”.
The highly coveted but notoriously unpredictable award typically honours those who have made significant contributions to lasting peace, promoted international fraternity, and bolstered institutions that further these aims.
It comes after Donald Trump used everything but the kitchen sink in a mad scramble to pick up the award. Odds were slashed earlier in the week after the 79-year-old announced both Hamas and Israel had agreed to the first phase of a peace plan.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hasn’t sought to mask who he was supporting as the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
