FLORIDA (WCJB) – One of 34 immigrants convicted in Florida of illegally entering the United States after a previous deportation was found in Alachua County.
United States Attorney John P. Heekin announced the conviction of Marin Mendez Vasquez, a Mexican national, of illegally reentering the country after being picked up in Alachua County in September 2025. He was previously removed from the country three times between 2007 and 2010.
The prosecution was part of the U.S. Department of Justice’s “Operation Take Back America.”
“We are a nation of laws, and my office is firmly committed to enforcing those laws by aggressively prosecuting violations,” Heekin said.
