Host Amitabh Bachchan can be seen introducing him with warmth and admiration, calling him “Punjab da Puttar.”
Punjabi singer, actor Diljit Dosanjh brought his signature humour to Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 when he appeared as a guest on the show.
During a light-hearted conversation with the legendary host, Diljit Dosanjh candidly confessed that while growing up, he was a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s films. But there was one movie he didn’t quite enjoy, which was Saudagar (1973).
Diljit made the moment playful rather than awkward.
Diljit told Big B, when he was child “we would really love his and Dharmendra’s movies as they had a lot of action. But then he playfully told him that there was ‘one movie of his he didn’t like (as a child) jaha aap gur bechte ho’, referring to Saudagar.”
The confession left Big B momentarily surprised, and then in splits. With his ever-gracious sense of humour, Amitabh took the remark sportingly, laughing along with Diljit and the audience.
“I used to watch all your films, Sir — Sholay, Amar Akbar Anthony, Coolie, Satte Pe Satta, all of them. I loved you and Dharmendra ji together. But there was one film I didn’t like… Saudagar,” Diljit admitted, grinning as Bachchan burst into laughter.
The exchange quickly went viral after Sony TV shared the clip on social media, with fans praising the Amar Singh Chamkila star for his genuine and funny confession.

For his part, Amitabh Bachchan, who starred opposite Nutan in Saudagar, seemed delighted by Diljit’s honesty.
The film, known for its serious tone and mature storyline, clearly didn’t appeal to the young Diljit back in the day but his playful honesty made for a heartwarming television moment.
This wasn’t the first time Diljit has charmed audiences with his unfiltered honesty. In his past interviews and talk show appearances, live concerts, Diljit is known for his genuine demeanour.
