Jaxson Dart seems to think either John Harbaugh or Kevin Stefanski will be the Giants’ next head coach
The New York Giants are heading back to the drawing board this offseason after putting together another ugly campaign in 2025. While the team appears to have found its quarterback of the future, Jaxson Dart, the front office has a lot of work to do when it comes to rebuilding the rest of the roster around him. Oh, and they need to find a new head coach after Brian Daboll got fired midway through the new season.
While offensive coordinator Mike Kafka did a good job filling in as the team’s interim head coach, it seems like the Giants want to move in another direction this offseason. They have been linked to several big-name targets, and in a clip that has gone viral on social media, Dart appears to believe that the race may already be coming down to two candidates.
New York surprised a lot of folks when it selected Dart with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but he is now the primary reason why the team’s head coaching gig appears to be so enticing. In 14 games (12 starts), Dart flashed his potential, throwing for 2,272 yards and 15 touchdowns, while also rushing for 487 yards and nine more scores.
With Dart leading the way under center, and guys like Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Cam Skattebo working around him on offense, the Giants have the pieces for their offensive infrastructure in place. Add in stars like Brian Burns and Abdul Carter on defense, and New York could quickly turn things around if the right head coach is hired this offseason.
For now (on the surface, at least), the Giants appear to still be picking out their top candidates and scheduling interviews for their head coach opening. However, a clip of Dart at the Ole Miss Rebels College Football Playoff matchup against the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday night has quickly gone viral on social media, as he appears to be saying that he believes either John Harbaugh or Kevin Stefanski will become the team’s next head coach.
“Harbaugh or Stefanski, but I don’t know,” Dart appears to be saying in the clip.
To get it out of the way first, it’s clear that this is all speculative for the time being, as this clip is based solely on folks attempting to read Dart’s lips. However, it clearly seems like he is discussing Harbaugh and Stefanski, two guys who are considered the top head coach candidates available, in some capacity, which could be good news for the Giants.
New York is still very early in its process of finding a new head coach, but fans would likely be thrilled if either one of these guys ends up getting hired by the team. The Giants’ head coaching search will continue to draw attention from folks across the league, but it will be interesting to see if Dart ends up knowing something that the public currently isn’t privy to.
