Former Supreme Court justice Michael Corboy has been handed the top job at the Corruption and Crime Commission after holding the deputy position since July last year.
Mr Corboy stepped into his new role of corruption and crime commissioner on Monday, having acted in the role since his predecessor John McKechnie retired in June following a nine-year stint.
Mr Corboy had been in the deputy position since July 2024, becoming the first person to hold the newly-created title.
He will hold the role for a term of five years.
Before entering the CCC, Mr Corboy was a Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia for 13 years, retiring in 2023.

Prior to this he spent decades as a partner in law firms, barrister, and judge.
Supporting Mr Corboy will be Scott Ellis who will continue to serve as acting commissioner when needed for another three-year term.
Attorney General Tony Buti said Mr Corboy was a good fit for the job.
“I congratulate Michael Corboy SC on being appointed as Commissioner of the Corruption and Crime Commission,” he said.
“Mr Corboy brings eminent expertise in criminal, commercial and corporate law, having served in the legal profession with distinction for more than 40 years.
“I also congratulate Scott Ellis on his reappointment as Acting Commissioner, a role he has performed for nine years including one year fulfilling all the functions of the Commissioner.”
