The Department of Labour held another job fair in Grand Bahama on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the YMTA in Hunters.
It was the third such fair hosted by the department in its effort to make employment opportunities more accessible.
The first was held at the Downtown Freeport office and the second at the Obadiah H. Wilchcombe Complex in Eight Mile Rock to accommodate residents in West Grand Bahama.
The event on the weekend was staged in conjunction with House of Hope, a community-based organization from Pinder’s Point, Hunters, Lewis Yard and Mac Town areas.
Representatives of AML Foods Limited, Colina Insurance, Family Guardian, Petrol Express, Burger King, Pollo Tropical and Port Lucaya Marketplace were on hand to conduct interviews and field questions from the applicants.
Princess Flowers, Officer in Charge of the Public Employment Services Unit at the Department of Labour, was pleased with the vendor turnout and noted that the department intends to continue an aggressive employment recruitment campaign with a number of companies over the summer months.
In the meantime, she added, the department will move forward with drawing from its skills database, matching potential candidates up with employers to fill the vacancies at the various companies.
