David Beckham Bitcoin strategy: David Beckham-backed Prenetics, a health-sciences company that began accumulating Bitcoin earlier this year, has decided to pause that strategy as crypto prices remain under pressure, becoming the latest firm to step back from using digital assets as a treasury play, as per a report.
The company said on Tuesday that it stopped buying Bitcoin on December 4 and will now shift its focus toward IM8, a nutritional supplement brand it co-founded with former England football star David Beckham, as per a Bloomberg report. Beckham is also a strategic investor in Prenetics.
Prenetics chief executive officer Danny Yeung said in a press release that, “We are making disciplined strategic decisions that reflect our experience as operators and our commitment to maximizing long-term shareholder value,” as quoted by Bloomberg.

Prenetics launched its Bitcoin accumulation strategy in June, following an approach popularized by Michael Saylor’s Strategy Inc. Companies adopting this model, often referred to as digital-asset treasury firms, raise capital to purchase cryptocurrencies. The strategy gained momentum earlier in 2025 when crypto prices were rising but has since lost favor following the market downturn in October.
As Bitcoin entered a bear market and share prices of several digital-asset treasury firms declined, executives across the sector have begun reassessing their approach.

When Prenetics first announced its Bitcoin-buying plan in June, Yeung highlighted what he described as a growing “convergence” between healthcare innovation and blockchain technology, calling it the beginning of a new era, as per the Bloomberg report.
Despite halting further purchases, Prenetics said it plans to retain its existing Bitcoin holdings. The company currently holds 510 Bitcoin, valued at approximately $44.8 million as of Tuesday, as per the Bloomberg report.
