The Chattanooga DAR Regents Council held its annual joint luncheon at Calvary Chapel. The event was catered by Common Table.
The meeting agenda included guest introductions, patriotic rituals, an award presentation, program and fellowship. Special guests holding state offices included Honorary State Regent Susan Thomas, Tennessee State Chaplain Sandra Long and State Corresponding Secretary Joan Clark. The Alexander Keith, Ocoee and Southwest Point chapter members were also present.
Members who had attained a membership of 50 years or more were recognized and honored, as well as chapter members who have served in the military. Out of the five Chattanooga chapters, there were 10 members with 50 or more years of DAR service, for a combined total of 577 years “in service to God, home and country.” The five Chattanooga chapters have 13 members who have served the country through military service.
The speaker for the luncheon was Dr. Timothy Holder. Dr. Holder is a radio show host, podcaster, author and professor. He gives over 90 talks a year for civic groups, churches, schools and other organizations. His show, “The Leading Edge with Dr. Tim Holder,” features interviews with leaders from a variety of fields. He is the author of 19 books, and teaches online for Liberty University and Walters State Community College. His program. entitled “Washington and Lafayette,” demonstrated the relationship and differences between those two men. Inspirational lessons about dealing with adversity were presented from the lives of these two leaders.
Before and after the luncheon, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a pocket flag service project. The message in each pocket flag said, “A flag for your pocket so you can always carry a little piece of home. We are praying for you and we are proud of you. Thank you for defending our country and freedom.” The pocket flags will be delivered to the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 12 based at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni Japan.
The 2025-26 Regent Council members include Cindy Dearing, council secretary and regent of the Chickamauga Chapter; Cynthia Anchondo, council chaplain and regent of the Nancy Ward Chapter; Samantha Green, council treasurer and regent of the Judge David Campbell Chapter; Jennifer Harvey council chair and member of the Chief John Ross chapter; Candace Barger, council vice-chair and regent of the Chief John Ross Chapter; and Carolyn Caulkins, council publicity chair and regent of the Moccasin Bend Chapter. Filling in for Candace Barger the day of the luncheon was Carol Mingle, second vice regent, Chief John Ross Chapter.
