Crypto investors frustrated by Bitcoin’s slow grind may be overlooking what’s really happening under the surface, according to Jamie Coutts of Real Vision.
He argues that this cycle, though quieter than past runs, is setting the stage for both new highs and the eventual downturn that follows every liquidity wave.
Coutts frames the market around one force: global liquidity. Central banks reversing balance sheet tightening, he says, would be the spark for another leg higher in crypto, with altcoins amplifying the upside. But he warns that such rallies often plant the seeds for sharper drawdowns later. In a worst-case scenario, he sees room for a 50% correction once a cycle peak is in place — though he emphasizes the market is not there yet.
This cycle feels “boring” compared to past booms, Coutts notes, and that may not be a bad thing. Bitcoin’s measured ascent reflects a slower expansion of liquidity worldwide. Without manic momentum, he suggests, the eventual bear phase may play out as a longer, grinding decline rather than a sudden collapse.
Despite his caution on timing, Coutts insists the structural case for Bitcoin is only strengthening. He cites blockchain adoption and ongoing monetary debasement as unstoppable trends. Beyond that, he highlights Bitcoin’s role as emerging global collateral, a beneficiary of AI-driven infrastructure, a contributor to modernizing energy grids, and an anchor for diversified portfolios.
In his view, those forces mean the “boring” climb is far from meaningless — it’s the foundation for Bitcoin’s growing integration into global finance.
