Ethereum’s leadership is clear, but it is equally important to watch how emerging protocols like Lido, Aerodrome, and Ether.fi carve niches that expand crypto’s real-world footprint. Bitcoin is consolidating above the $115,000 mark and is holding steady. Traders are awaiting clarity from the U.S. Federal Reserve on its policy stance, scheduled for September 17. Meanwhile, gold’s record-breaking surge past $3,560/oz has reinforced the case for crypto as a parallel macro hedge. Strong inflows into Ethereum ETFs and renewed interest in community-driven tokens also buoy the market mood.
Against this backdrop, a handful of assets stand out for their momentum, adoption, and ecosystem-driven catalysts. Here are this month’s Crypto Gems to keep on your radar.
Aerodrome Finance is now the leading DEX and liquidity hub on Coinbase’s Base blockchain. It commands over 60% of Base’s DEX trading volume and ~40% of its TVL. Its reach has boosted significantly after Aerodrome’s integration into Coinbase’s main app, thereby gaining exposure to over 110 million verified users. Its incentive model of redistributing 100% of protocol revenue back to the ecosystem adds to its appeal as a sustainable DeFi play. AERO is expected to do 4-5x this year.
Pump.fun has surpassed LetsBonk as the top launchpad in terms of the number of token launches. ETH has jumped 20% over the past month, leading broader altcoin sentiment. The asset continues to anchor DeFi and smart contracts, making it the bellwether for altseason rallies.
The asset’s fresh momentum stems from two catalysts: the U.S. Senate’s passage of the GENIUS Act, which reinforces Ethereum’s institutional relevance; and ETF net inflows of $3.8 billion in recent weeks. BlackRock accounts for the lion’s share of ETF inflows.
With these tailwinds, ETH looks poised to be the first mover if altseason gains momentum.
Ether.fi has rapidly expanded its liquid restaking footprint, with TVL swelling beyond $11.19 billion. This growth highlights increasing trust in its ability to handle ETH and BTC at scale and position ETHFI as a governance token with rising strategic value. Beyond staking, ETHFI’s real-world utility sets it apart: a non-custodial debit card offering up to 3% cashback, 13.5% yields on USD balances, and acceptance at over 100 million merchant locations globally.
