The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is gearing up for widespread mobilization against the BJP-led government’s policies deemed harmful to farmers and workers. This decision emerged after a three-day committee meeting in Thiruvananthapuram, where CPI(M) vowed to unify citizens in resisting these laws until they are repealed.
In collaboration with the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, which was instrumental in the 2020-21 farmers’ protests, CPI(M) advocates for large-scale demonstrations. These protests spanned multiple states, including Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, with participants rallying against bills like the Seeds Bill 2025 and Electricity Bill 2025.
The opposition coalition’s ambitions are crystallized in their pursuit of more equitable resources, such as securing the Minimum Support Price and guaranteeing employment rights. Amidst pledges for continued resistance, the groups focus on defeating what they describe as pro-corporate, anti-people legislative measures of the Modi administration.
