FRISCO — While Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer reiterated on Wednesday that quarterback Dak Prescott will start Sunday’s regular season finale against the Giants, some other players may miss that game.
Left guard T.J. Bass, who started the last two games, was getting rehab work during practice with his left knee wrapped.
Also, tight end Jake Ferguson didn’t practice as he continues to recover from a calf injury.
Running back Malik Davis (eye) and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey also didn’t practice.

And with running back Javonte Williams (shoulder/neck stinger) getting some individual work in practice, there’s a chance a pair of rookies, Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah, might see significant playing time on Sunday.
Schottenheimer has spoken about all 17 games mattering. The only disappointing thing is that the Cowboys will not participate in the postseason to extend their season.

“We’ve put a lot of time and effort into this,” he said. “We had different pride in trying to get to 5-1, get to 8-8-1. But when we look back at this evening and everything is evaluated, it’s going to be about the outcome of the New York Giants in Week 17, and then going back to Philadelphia, and then back before that to training camp and the way we trained. It’s an exhausting process, but as a guy that loves to work and do it with the actual reporters, that’s one of the things I love about it.”
