Attributes required include someone who is reliable, has a strong work ethic, is able to stay calm in high pressure environments and can communicate and work well as part of a team.
Also on the tick list is a good level of fitness and an interest in developing and learning a variety of new skills.
The right candidate will also be able to offer daytime availability to respond to callouts during weekdays and weekends and be prepared to attend weekly training nights on Mondays.
The team posted: “Carrying a pager as an on-call firefighter is a commitment, but we’d say with confidence it is a worthwhile one, and easily one of the most rewarding things you could do.”
Invergordon Fire Station hosted a come-and-find-out more session earlier this week and plans another on Monday, October 27 from 6pm. That will offer a chance to meet some of the team.
The plan is to hold interviews during November. Following the recruitment and selection process, a start date for the successful candidate would be March 2026.
The team runs a Facebook page where more information can be found.
