Aubrey nailed a 64-yard effort at the end of the first half in Dallas’ win over Atlanta on Friday night.
Brandon Aubrey has already made the second-longest field goal in NFL history, a 65-yarder last season. With a 64-yard field goal to finish the first half of the Dallas Cowboys’ preseason win against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, Aubrey earned a roar from the crowd. Could this be the year he gets the record?
He hasn’t been thinking about it.
“I just want to put the ball through the uprights, and any time I get past 60, you can feel it, just looking up, you’re a little bit further,” Aubrey said postgame. “So, bring just a little bit more to the table, but still trying not to swing too hard.”

Last preseason, Aubrey kicked a 66-yard field goal, which would have tied the NFL record if preseason records were kept.

“When I say to Joe [Milton], ‘Hey Joe, we need about 10 yards to get to field goal range,'” Schottenheimer said postgame. “And he was like, ‘What?’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’ So, no, you really don’t [get used to it.]”
Aubrey isn’t the only kicker drawing attention this August, though. Jacksonville kicker Cam Little made a 70-yard field goal during the Jaguars’ preseason opener this month.

“To hit that in any sort of stadium, any situation, obviously never been done in an NFL game before,” Aubrey said of Little’s moment. “Really impressive kick.”

The record is held by Justin Tucker, the former Baltimore Ravens kicker and Texas Longhorn, whose kick bounced off the crossbar before making it through the uprights in a September 2021 game against the Detroit Lions. His record kick secured a 19-17 win for the Ravens.
Little’s teammates said they weren’t surprised by his 70-yarder because of how often he hits them from that far in practice.
Aubrey said kicking from that distance isn’t as normal for him.

“It just depends on the day,” Aubrey said. “It’s tough to say. You’re not really looking to hit 70-plus-yard field goals, unless the situation pops up, like we have been at half there.”
During pregame warmups, Aubrey usually kicks 58 or 59 yards and sees how that feels. In the game, he’s focused on being smooth.
“Especially when it’s the end of the half, it’s nothing to lose,” Aubrey said. “Just go out there and take a clean ball, put what you got into it, but don’t try and overswing. Be smooth.”
