Jack P Shepherd thrilled fans as he provided a behind the scenes look at last night’s Corriedale spectacular. The Coronation Street star, renowned for his role as David Platt, played a key part in the crossover with Emmerdale.
The character and his partner, Shona Platt, were caught up in the dramatic car crash in Hotten. Shona, played by Julia Goulding, is pregnant in the show and she had her baby saved by Emmerdale’s Jacob Gallagher. However, the drama was not over for David as he suffered an epileptic fit in the hospital at the end of the episode, with the fate of his character unknown.
He has taken to Instagram today after the episode aired and to reflect on the show and the filming of the big stunt. He said: “Some behind the scenes for ya.”
The final clip on the carousel was seemingly a message to his wife Hanni Treweek on the final day of filming on location. He said: “Whatever time I finish, I think they can only go to half four tonight so, if I’m on until that time, I’ll just drive home.
“I’m an hour and 20 minutes away from home, or I’m 45 minutes away from the hotel. It makes no f*****g sense to just go to the hotel, so I’ll just drive straight home at half four if I go that late. Either way, I’ll be there at 6am or I’ll be there a little bit earlier. Love you.”
Jack sent fans into a frenzy yesterday when he was interviewed on Good Morning Britain and teased his character would be getting killed off in Corriedale.
Interviewer Susanna Reid was shocked when Jack, 37, appeared to let slip: “People go and my number has come up. I’ve done 25 years. It would have been great to see the rest of 2026. But sadly tonight is the end. Have I given too much away there?”
“I have, haven’t I?” A shocked Susanna probed as she said: “Is that true?” The hosts breathed a sigh of relief when Jack confirmed he was joking, as Susanna said: “I could feel ITV bosses breathing down the back of our necks”
Fans took to the comments of Jack’s Instagram post as they praised his performance in the episode and are desperate to find out what is going to happen next.
Tracey said: “What happened to David???” Paula added: “Hope David is ok” Jane commented: “You better not be [dead emoji]” Gill posted: “Brilliant episode. I hope David’s going to be alright.”
Matt commented: “Corriedale was absolutely amazing, brilliant to watch, so glad you got to be in it, everyone should be incredibly proud.”
Mona said: “Fantastic ep! Well done everyone.” Coronation Street continues tonight at 8.30pm on ITV
